Monica Montoya, APCC

Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC4561)
I am a Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC4561) and supervised by Dr. Melissa Kae. I strongly believe in the motto: “If you feel better, you will do better” Every individual has the ability and power to rediscover their internal strengths to increase resiliency and self-efficacy. I’m honored and humble to be part of this journey with you. I consider myself bilingual/bicultural and I am committed and passionate to serving the underserved communities. I provide counseling services in both English and Spanish.

Clinical Focus
Over the years I have worked with adults, children, college students, adolescents, families and couples. I have had the opportunity to facilitate parent and teen support groups. I have also worked in different settings such as inpatient, partial hospitalization, outpatient intensive program, college/university and private practice. I’m eager to continue learning and expanding on a variety of therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy for OCD, Play therapy, Mindfulness, and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT). I have experience working with depression, anxiety, OCD, self-esteem, eating disorders, parenting skills, grief and loss, among others.
